Finally, after 12 years we have splashed. The “Bish…the build” section shows the progress pictures from start to first sail. Now that we have launched, Wooden Boat Magazine published an article about BISH in the March/April issue. There was a bit of a snafu in that they ran one of my interior pictures twice and left out the shot they were going to use of the saloon… but, Oh Blau de, Oh Blau da, Life goes on.
I think writer Larry Cheek did a great job of capturing my thinking and process. And Neil Rabinowitz did a great job of photography the boat at sail… even though there was almost no wind, and a freezing fog. Hey, December in Seattle is not exactly tropical. I shot the interiors, but as you can tell, it is very small inside and not much to show. Since there aren’t any large bulkheads, I used the pillows to show my mom’s paintings of my dad, Bish. He was a wondrous adventurer, mostly armchair in his later years. But he was my mentor (in a quiet way) and idol. This boat is dedicated to his spirit and love.
